The Tamarac City Commission on Dec. 10 approved a resolution to enter an agreement for police services with the Broward County Sheriff’s Office by a 5–0 vote.
City staff presented the contract terms and said the item had been discussed at the staff agenda review. During public comment, resident Kate Johnson asked for clarification of the contract costs and questioned an apparent 11.9% increase compared with an earlier stated annual cap of 5% in prior materials. “Although the previous contract capped yearly increases at 5%, then this increase is 11.9%. That is a huge increase,” Johnson said, and asked for a line‑item budget explaining the change.
Commissioners did not request extended discussion and voted to approve the agreement. A representative who addressed the commission afterward thanked city leaders for the long‑standing relationship and said the contractor looks forward to continuing partnership in public safety.
