Senate Labor Committee recommends confirmations to State Board of Electricity and High Pressure Piping

The Minnesota Senate Labor Committee on Thursday heard brief overviews from two state board chairs and recommended confirmation of the slate of nominees for each board.
Trevor Turek, chair of the State Board of Electricity, described the board’s public safety mission, its 12-member composition and its role in adopting the National Electrical Code and setting licensing and continuing-education requirements. After the overview, Chair McEwen read the names of the nominees and Senator Marty moved to recommend confirmation. The committee approved the recommendation by voice vote.
Mark Worms, chair of the State Board of High Pressure Piping Systems, provided a short description of the board’s responsibilities overseeing bioprocessing piping, steam/heating media systems and ammonia refrigeration systems. Chair McEwen then read the list of nominees for that board; the committee moved to recommend confirmation and adopted the motion by voice vote.
The committee did not record roll-call tallies during the hearing; votes were recorded as voice approvals and the nominations will be forwarded to the full Senate for final action.
