Acting Chief Justice Sabrina McKenna administered the oath of office to Rochelle Lamosau, who was appointed by the governor to represent Senate District 19 on Dec. 3, 2025. Lamosau repeated the oath on the Senate floor and was congratulated by members.
The Senate president presented a special lapel pin — commissioned in conjunction with the state's 55th anniversary of statehood — to Lamosau as a symbol of service to the people of Hawaii. Family and guests joined Lamosau on the rostrum for photographs.
Madam Clerk then called the roll; the clerk reported all 25 members present for the opening session. The chamber also heard introductions of visiting dignitaries and other guests assembled in the gallery.
The swearing-in was part of the Senate’s opening-day protocol, which included ceremonial remarks and the singing of the national anthem.
