On Nov. 12 the Blaine Planning Commission recommended that the City Council approve a comprehensive plan amendment and rezoning to allow construction of a single‑family home on a parcel previously occupied by a restaurant.
Planning staff (Sean) described the three‑part application: a land‑use change from Community Commercial to Low‑Density Residential, rezoning from Mixed Use to R1 single‑family, and permission to build a single‑family house. Staff explained the Blaine EDA purchased the vacant property and demolished the former Jimbo's restaurant in 2019; staff said a sale by the EDA would include design requirements compatible with R1 standards. Staff recommended approval.
A motion to recommend approval passed by voice vote. Staff said the item will go to the City Council for first reading on Dec. 1 and second reading on Dec. 15.
