Blaine honors two residents with lifesaving awards

Blaine’s police chief presented two citizen recognition and lifesaving awards during the Feb. 18 city council meeting for actions that helped save lives in 2025.
The first award honored Jesse Michael Frazier for spotting a missing, nonverbal 6‑year‑old who had been drawn to nearby ponds on May 10, 2025. The chief said Frazier’s observation and directions to responding officers were “vital as a nick of time” and credited a community service officer who entered the water and retrieved the child before the situation became fatal. Jesse Frazier was present to receive the plaque and departmental coins.
The second award recognized Eric David Knight for stopping to assist an elderly woman in severe distress after observing her vehicle roll through a stop sign and come to rest in a yard on June 28, 2025. Knight was not present; the chief read the award citation and said department personnel and medics provided advanced care that led to a successful outcome and that the city will deliver Knight’s award at a later time.
Mayor Sanders thanked both individuals and praised the community for supporting public safety personnel. The mayor said the presentations are intended to “inspire others” to help their neighbors.
