Director Selman said the applicant sought to expand an existing auto-repair business into adjacent space to add painting and detailing; planning staff recommended approval with six conditions. Selman also noted the property had received a code-enforcement violation in October 2025 for use beyond the permitted scope and that public comments raised concerns about noise, outdoor storage and parking.
Council Member Newland said he was not prepared to approve the amendment while code enforcement and outstanding questions remained and moved to table the item for up to 60 days so staff could investigate and report back. City Attorney Lisonbee and Director Selman confirmed the timeline and the application action deadline; council voted in favor of tabling to allow staff time to resolve the outstanding questions and coordinate with code enforcement.
The item is tabled; staff will follow up with code enforcement findings and return to council when the issues are resolved or when the applicant has addressed conditions.
