The Jefferson Davis Parish Tourist Commission on Jan. 13 unanimously adopted a new Sponsorship and Marketing Policy, approved an amendment to its Employee Policies and Best Practices Manual, and voted to move its regular monthly meeting time from noon to 3:00 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month.
Chair Kori Myers called the meeting to order. At-Large member Ronnie Petree moved to adopt the Sponsorship and Marketing Policy; Austin Bertrand seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. Jeremy Doucet moved to approve the Dec. 9, 2025 minutes (seconded by Sammy LeJeune) and later moved to approve the October–November 2025 financial reports (seconded by Ronnie Petree); both motions passed unanimously. The recorded minutes show motions passing unanimously but do not list vote counts.
Director Carter Prejean reported that December sales-tax collections totaled $9,497.96, down from $14,161.43 in December 2024. Prejean said he will contact Sales Tax Collector Amber Miller to review reporting by Airbnb operators and hotel/motel vendors. Prejean also summarized recent outreach and upcoming events: participation in parish Christmas events and the New Year's Eve celebration in Jennings; plans to return the Yellow Rails birding event in the fall; coverage of Mardi Gras events; assistance with the 2026 parish fair; planning for a Bayou Rum 5K; and ongoing efforts to organize a Stearman group fly-in, pending their response.
Prejean said the Tourist Commission donated $8,000 from Fall Festival proceeds to the local "Shop with a Cop" program. He listed planned promotions including a Legislative Breakfast (Feb. 10), a March Madness Boudin Ball campaign, and participation in Love the Boot week April 18'1. Marketing Director Macey Guidry Cormier reported December social media reach across Facebook, Instagram and TikTok, with view counts reported between roughly 5,316 and 650,000 depending on the platform and post.
The commission's meeting schedule was changed from noon to 3:00 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month, with meetings to rotate among parish locations. The minutes note there will be no meeting in February and that the next regular meeting is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 10, 2026; the minutes do not specify a March meeting location. The Ethics Disclosure Tier 2.1 report deadline for commission members was announced as May 15, 2026.
The commission adjourned after the actions above. Guests and noncommission attendees were listed in the minutes but the minutes do not indicate which attendees were eligible to vote; motions are recorded as passing unanimously without numeric tallies.
