Parish Administrator Ben Boudreaux told the Jefferson Davis Parish EDC at its Feb. 11 meeting that bids will be opened for a Lacassine water booster station and that a generator has been installed at the local health unit.
Boudreaux said the parish plans to place a sales-tax renewal on the November ballot that is estimated to bring in about $3 million for road maintenance. He also said the parish will pursue rededication of the jail tax to fund jail operations and to provide funding for the animal shelter.
Jennings Mayor Henry Guinn updated the commission on the ongoing Jennings water plant remodel and a project to convert utility operations from manual to digital systems. He said the parish contracted Blue Wing Civil Consultants for the final design of the Zigler extension and will request $9.2 million from the legislature to cover the project's remaining balance. Mayor Guinn also said the parish is finalizing an agreement with DOTD for a new retail development near the Walmart corridor.
Lake Arthur Mayor Poncho LeJeune reported 23,000 feet of new water lines and 400 new services are being installed, that fiber-optic lines are being run throughout the town, and that the community held a successful Mardi Gras parade.
The commission noted deadlines for LA ethics disclosures (Tier 2.1 due May 15, 2026) and ethics training (due Dec. 31, 2026). The next board meeting is scheduled for noon March 11, 2026.
