At the Oct. 8 meeting Cesilee Oliver, director of the Jeff Davis Parish Economic Development Commission, updated commissioners on business recruitment, site work and local projects.
Oliver said the EDC has submitted several RFPs and highlighted one from an ammunition manufacturer that would create about 160 jobs, reported a salary range near $60,000 and estimated roughly $32 million in capital expenditures. She said staff are continuing work on the Marsh project, pursuing site certification for a property in Silverwood and preparing rezoning maps for targeted parcels near the I‑10 corridor. Oliver also invited commissioners to the ribbon cutting and grand opening for Ice Industries on Oct. 14.
Parish Administrator Ben Boudreaux added that rezoning requests will appear on upcoming Police Jury agendas and that staff are updating GIS layers and working on overlay projects to support those applications. The commission recorded these project updates but did not take formal votes on individual site certifications or rezoning at this meeting.
