The Fulton County Board of Commissioners took several personnel and oversight steps during its Feb. 3 meeting, including appointing temporary committee coverage and initiating an external review of the Prothonotary's Office.
Following an executive session for personnel that ended at 10:53 a.m., the commission voted on a motion by Commissioner Randy H. Bunch to appoint Commissioner Steven L. Wible to perform committee duties assigned to him when his medical leave begins. The motion was recorded as passing with all commissioners voting in favor.
The board also approved an engagement letter from KB&S (Kulla, Barkdoll & Stewart, P.C.) "to provide professional legal and consulting services related to a review of the Fulton County Prothonotary's Office," on a motion by Commissioner Hervey P. Hann. Later in the afternoon the commissioners, the HR administrator and the chief clerk conducted interviews for a position in the Prothonotary's Office; the minutes state interviews were held but do not record a hiring decision in these minutes.
HR Administrator Mary Huston and Chief Clerk Stacy M. Shives took part in the interviews. The minutes do not provide details about candidates, interview outcomes or a timetable for any hiring decision. The engagement letter approval and the interviews indicate the commission is pursuing both an external review and an internal staffing process related to the Prothonotary's Office.
The commission recessed briefly for a Criminal Justice Advisory Board meeting during the morning and resumed county business in the afternoon before adjourning at 3:05 p.m.
