Fulton County OKs $230,699.51 state grant for 911 systems and hires a per-diem dispatcher

Fulton County commissioners on Dec. 30 approved a State Interconnectivity Grant totaling $230,699.51 to support a set of 911 projects and moved to hire a per-diem 911 dispatcher.
Brian Barton, EMA/911 Director, reviewed the grant, which the county will apply toward SouthCentral Mountain CAD maintenance, SouthCentral Mountain CHE maintenance, SouthCentral Mountain ESInet maintenance, Fulton NG911 GIS maintenance, a SouthCentral Mountain battery upgrade, and Fulton ILEC maintenance. Commissioner Steven L. Wible moved to approve and execute the grant agreement; the motion passed unanimously.
Commissioner Hervey P. Hann moved to hire Troy Wagaman for the position of Per Diem 911 Dispatcher, effective pending required clearances. A brief Salary Board meeting convened at 9:48 a.m. to set the new hire's salary. The hiring motion was approved unanimously.
County officials did not provide the dispatcher's salary amount in the public minutes, and the hiring remains subject to required background checks and clearances.
