Zotti Investments representatives asked Barnesville Council to reconsider a decision by the Building and Zoning Administrator regarding the Atlanta Street trailer park and requested permission to repair and rehabilitate mobile homes on the site.
Mac English, speaking for Zotti Investments, said the company wants to improve and re-occupy the mobile homes and asked Council to grant permits or a waiver so rehabilitation could proceed. Building and Zoning Administrator Mike Aiken told Council the property is zoned C‑3 and, under current code, units left vacant or in disrepair for more than five years are nonconforming and may need removal; he said rezoning could be a remedy. Councilmembers asked detailed questions about occupancy history, codes, and the ability to issue permits under existing rules.
After extended discussion Council voted to table the appeal for further information and scheduled continued review at the Aug. 27 budget workshop so staff could research zoning, permitting pathways and possible code amendments. The postponement was unanimous and will allow staff and the appellant to provide more detailed documentation before Council takes a final position.
