Greensburg Community Schools board adopts K–8 textbooks, accepts $1,500 donation and approves personnel changes

Greensburg Community Schools board members met on Feb. 10, 2026, and voted unanimously on a series of routine and instructional items, including textbook adoptions, personnel changes and a donor gift.
The meeting opened at 6:00 p.m., with Emily McNulty calling the session to order and leading the Pledge of Allegiance. The board first approved the minutes of the Jan. 13, 2026 finance and regular meetings after a motion by Ryan Maddux and a second from Jon Dooley; the vote was 7-0. The board also approved vouchers as presented on a 7-0 vote following a motion by Mark Bower and second by Meredith Acra.
Tom Hunter reported on fund balances and delivered several administrative updates. After the fund report, the board approved the financial report on a motion by Steve Stringer, seconded by Jon Dooley, carried 7-0. Hunter also updated members on the Teacher Evaluation Instrument, saying the Administrative Team is reviewing it in detail with a goal of completion within approximately two months. He reported the district is developing an AI policy and commended the administrative team for the hours of work already invested; Hunter said professional development will be provided to staff once the policy is finalized. Hunter provided the board with TAG distribution information and instructed that the list remain confidential.
Under New Business, the board accepted a $1,500 donation from Napoleon State Bank designated for teacher and staff appreciation after a motion by Ryan Maddux and second by Meredith Acra; the motion passed 7-0.
During the Superintendent’s Report, Hunter reminded the board that a retreat is scheduled for Feb. 21, 2026, at central office and announced that Nick Parcell has been named a recipient of the 2026 Lilly Endowment Teacher Creativity Fellowship. The board approved textbook adoptions for K–5 from Savvas Learning Company and grades 6–8 from Houghton Mifflin Harcourt on a motion by Meredith Acra and second by Christy Norton; the adoption was approved 7-0.
The board approved several personnel items on a bundled motion. Resignations approved included Amy Hudnall and Lindsay Chase from GJHS and Cortney Bedel from GES; leaves of absence were approved for Kayla Ryle and India Vega. The appointments approved included Stacey Reynolds (GJHS cafeteria), Lily Abplanalp (temporary SPED speech pathologist), Matt Miller (GJHS head baseball coach), Keegan McCamment (GJHS assistant baseball coach), Keith Kramer (GJHS assistant softball coach), Amy Boyd (SPED speech assistant), and Lisa Wilson (GES teacher, temporary). All personnel items passed 7-0.
The board also approved a GJHS band trip to Kings Island on May 9, 2026, on a motion by Mark Bower and second by Steve Stringer; the motion carried unanimously. The board offered congratulations to the girls basketball, girls swimming and girls wrestling teams and noted that wrestlers Carson Beagle and Jai Jackson will compete at Semi-State in New Castle the following weekend.
The board set its next regular meeting for March 10, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. Meredith Acra moved to adjourn, Ryan Maddux seconded, and the meeting ended at 6:30 p.m. with a 7-0 vote.
Actions taken at the meeting were procedural and unanimous; no contested motions, legal authorities, or external approvals were referenced during the recorded proceedings.
