MSD Mount Vernon board approves CTE course, property resolution and routine financial actions

Mt. Vernon, Ind. — On Feb. 2, 2026, the Board of School Trustees of the Metropolitan School District (MSD) of Mt. Vernon met at Mt. Vernon Senior High School and approved a package of routine and preparatory actions including curriculum changes, financial authorizations and a property-related resolution. The board members present were Kendra Bisesi, Brittney Butler, Mark Isaac, Greg Oeth and Brian Williams; administrators included Chief Financial Officer Bo Harris and Superintendent Stephanie Stewart. Courtney York attended representing the NEA.
The board voted to approve the minutes of the Jan. 20 meeting and authorized payroll checks 406323 through 407050, voucher checks 147244 through 147310 and electronic transfers ET003366 through ET003373. Board member Mark Isaac made the motion to approve the minutes and payments; Board member Brian Williams seconded. The voucher list is attached to, and made part of, the minutes.
Board member Brittney Butler moved and Board member Kendra Bisesi seconded a motion to add a Career and Technical Education course to the 2026–27 school year; the motion carried. The board accepted the resignation of Hannah Gardner from assistant coach positions for both boys' and girls' swimming (one-quarter stipend each) on a motion by Brian Williams, seconded by Mark Isaac.
The board adopted a resolution permitting listed personnel to attend an educational meeting; Board member Kendra Bisesi moved the resolution and Board member Brittney Butler seconded. The resolution is attached to the minutes.
On financial housekeeping, the board approved voiding checks that have been outstanding for two years or more as of Dec. 31, 2025; the list of outstanding checks is attached to the minutes. Board member Brittney Butler moved to approve voiding the checks; Board member Brian Williams seconded.
The board also adopted a resolution concerning the possible purchase of property owned by Larry Davis and appointed Bo Harris, the district's chief financial officer, as the purchasing agent to handle matters related to that property; Board member Mark Isaac moved the resolution and Board member Brittney Butler seconded.
Finally, the board granted permission for the Mt. Vernon Police Department to use Mt. Vernon Senior High School for training on Sunday, Feb. 22, 2026; Board member Brian Williams moved the request and Board member Kendra Bisesi seconded.
Board members received informational items including February school menus and plans to replace underground fuel tanks. Future board meetings were scheduled for Feb. 17, March 2 and March 16, 2026, all at Mt. Vernon Senior High School. The meeting was adjourned; the minutes were prepared by Superintendent Stephanie Stewart.
