MSD Mount Vernon board adopts revised policy, confirms hires and accepts retirement

The Metropolitan School District of Mt. Vernon Board of School Trustees met Feb. 17, 2026, at Mt. Vernon Senior High School and approved several routine and personnel actions, including adoption of revised policy 327, confirmation of coaching hires, and acceptance of a long-serving employee’s intent to retire.
The board adopted revised policy 327 and approved the Feb. 2, 2026 minutes, payroll checks 407051 through 407423, voucher checks 147311 through 147381, and electronic transfers ET003374 through ET003382, and accepted the January 2026 financial statement. The motion to approve the minutes and financial authorizations was made by Board member Brian Williams and seconded by Board member Brittney Butler; the measure passed by unanimous roll call.
Board member Brittney Butler moved, and Board member Brian Williams seconded, the adoption of revised policy 327; the motion carried unanimously by roll call.
The board confirmed the employment of Kristin Cooper as assistant coach for boys’ and girls’ swimming (each appointment carries a 1/8 stipend) and Emma Thompson as assistant coach for girls’ track at the junior high. The confirmation motion was made by Board member Kendra Bisesi and seconded by Board member Brian Williams; the motion passed unanimously.
The board accepted the intent to retire from Cinda Denning, building secretary at FA, effective at the end of the 2025–26 school year; the minutes record 22 years of service. That motion was made by Board member Brittney Butler and seconded by Board member Kendra Bisesi and was approved by unanimous roll call.
Administrators presented and the board adopted a resolution permitting listed personnel to attend an educational meeting; the signed resolution is attached to the minutes. The board also accepted disclosure of conflict-of-interest statements from the persons listed in the minutes (names attached to the record).
The board approved revisions to the 2025–2027 Management & Non-Unit benefit packet to retitle Director of Buildings, Grounds, and Transportation to Director of HR and District Operations, to change Director of Curriculum, Grants, and Testing to Director of Student Services, and to add a Curriculum Coordinator position. The benefit-packet revisions were approved by unanimous roll call.
The board granted permission for MVHS Band Boosters to use the high school band room for a mattress fundraiser on Sunday, March 1, 2026. The board received informational items including the budget timeline and a Self-Insurance Fund report; no action was required on those reports.
Future board meetings were set for Monday, March 2, 2026; Monday, March 16, 2026; and Monday, April 6, 2026, all at Mt. Vernon Senior High School. With no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
