Fairfield board approves donations, service contracts and GMP amendment from Weigand Construction

At its Feb. 12 meeting the Fairfield School Board approved a slate of consent and action items, including claims totaling $1,336,762.85, payroll claims of $1,089,818.32, multiple personnel actions, several donations and a guaranteed maximum price (GMP) amendment from Weigand Construction.

A motion by Tyler Rensberger, seconded by Brian Wogoman, approved the consent agenda unanimously; the consent items listed minutes, claims and payroll totals, seven professional leave requests, retirements (none listed), several resignations, the suspension of "Employee 358" (length of time to be determined), transfers, new employments and substitute hires, and an FMLA request for Employee 2792. CFO Dr. Brandon Penrod earlier presented a list of outstanding two‑year‑old checks by fund and the January month‑end financial report.

Action items approved included donations and contracts requested by administrators. Donations approved included $11,520 and $12,000 from the Fairfield Alumni Association Blue/Gold (to cover letter jackets and student tickets), $10,000 from Smith Farm for gym enhancements, $3,500 from Lynn and Jessica Bender for the engineering tech program and a $1,500 anonymous donation to the Veterinary Science Program. The board also approved a service agreement with A‑Hattersley & Sons for boiler and chiller service and the Elkhart County Work‑Based Learning Hub contract.

Dr. Penrod brought forward a Guaranteed Maximum Price Amendment from Weigand Construction; a motion by Tyler Rensberger (seconded by Patrick McCauley) to approve the amendment passed unanimously. The board signed extracurricular contracts for Richard Hershberger and Julia Zusi before adjourning at 6:19 p.m.
