Board authorizes solicitation of bids for classroom renovations and ADA upgrades

During the meeting district presenters described planned interior renovations at the high school that would complete work in the 200 hallway (classrooms 221, 225, 227 and 229) and update finishes including paint and flooring. The presenter said the project includes targeted work in the life‑skills area to make a restroom ADA‑compliant with an adult changing table and an ADA‑compliant shower.
District staff listed alternates that could be chosen if the budget allows: replacement of old casework/cabinetry, upgraded dimmable lighting in the life‑skills classroom, and possible replacement of upper‑level cafeteria carpeting and VCT tile with an epoxy floor. The presenter said one contractor proposal was received for skylight infill after soliciting three bidders and that proposals for the classroom finishes will be solicited; board approval was requested to put proposals out to contractors and was granted by voice vote.
Staff also reminded the board that bids for a separate CTE middle‑school roof, gutter and downspout repair project are due Feb. 11 and will be brought back to the board in March. Board members asked clarifying questions about the cafeteria flooring area to be replaced and confirmed that terrazzo would not be affected.
The board authorized staff to proceed with requesting contractor proposals; the record shows the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
