Summary
The Metropolitan School District of Martinsville board unanimously approved a reimbursement resolution, authorized a waiver application, replaced its cybersecurity contract with an estimated $20,000 annual savings, accepted food/non-food bid awards via the Central Indiana Education Service Center, and accepted several donations.
At its regular meeting, the Metropolitan School District of Martinsville school board approved a slate of routine actions, including a reimbursement resolution intended to preserve the district’s ability to reimburse eligible project costs if bonds are issued later, and a cybersecurity contract replacement that the superintendent said will reduce annual costs by about $20,000.
Jacob McClellan of bond counsel firm Bose, McKinney & Evans told the board that the reimbursement resolution preserves the district’s ability to reimburse projects in the future should the board decide to issue general obligation bonds. "What this does is it preserves your ability to reimburse in the future for the projects included in the resolution," McClellan said.
Other approved items included authorization to apply for a flexibility waiver (board members noted that applying does not obligate the district to implement changes or guarantee approval), acceptance of food and non-food bids as recommended by the Central Indiana Education Service Center, and acceptance of several donations: $571.66 from McDonald's to Martinsville High School Athletics; $1,000 from Miller Window and Door to MHS Athletics; a $500 scholarship from the Mary Hartley Scholarship Foundation for a Peregrine Elementary graduate; $800 from the American Legion for MHS Applied Skills; and $3,000 from Delta Tau Theta to the district clinic.
All motions on the evening’s action items passed unanimously. No board member requested further study or amendments on these items and no formal votes were recorded by individual member name in the transcript; items were approved by voice vote.
The board adjourned after brief superintendent remarks and board announcements.
