Council reviews pool repairs, splash-pad resurfacing and other small capital items in tentative budget

Councilmembers reviewed multiple small capital and maintenance items included in the tentative budget and heard operational updates from public works and parks staff.

Parks staff (speaker 2) outlined a requisition to replace a corroded exhaust fan in the pool pack to reduce excessive humidity on the pool deck and said doing some work in-house could save about $3,000. The staff member also described a $5,000 splash-pad resurfacing to restore grip and safety and noted that rec-center bathroom remodels were budgeted at about $75,000.

Public works and operations staff reported a repaired pump, that the Power Plant Campground was functioning and that cemetery maintenance work had been completed; staff said the treatment plan and a few well parts remain to be installed before full drinking-water operations resume, and that springs were producing about 260 gallons per minute.

A proposed streets tractor (~$16,000) and roofing projects were among items staff said could be financed from retained earnings, but they asked the council whether to proceed or defer those purchases as the tentative budget is finalized.

Council did not take votes; staff will return with any requested cost breakdowns and procurement options.
