Raeford police chief highlights two life-saving responses, proposes changes to commendation presentations

Martinez and Officer Blackston performed CPR and restored a pulse for an unresponsive woman; she has made a full recovery. He also described a Nov. 22 incident in which Sgt. Chippewa and Officer Craig found an unconscious woman who had overdosed; the officers administered naloxone and she has also made a full recovery. "My officers are going above and beyond lately," Godwin said as he described the incidents and proposed a change in how life commendations are handled.
The minutes summarize the incidents and the chief's recommendation; no formal change to the commendation process was voted on at the meeting.
