Raeford council approves consent agenda, sets annexation hearing and awards audit contract

On June 3 the Raeford City Council approved its consent agenda in a single unanimous motion. The consent package included: approval of the May 6 regular meeting minutes; cancellation of the July 1 council meeting because of the July 4 holiday; a Certificate of Sufficiency for an annexation petition by Alex Properties and Resolution #2024-11 setting a public hearing on August 5; Budget Amendment #14 for the 2023–2024 fiscal year (details on file with the Finance Officer); approval of an audit contract with S. Preston Douglas & Associates, LLP of Lumberton for $24,145 for Fiscal Year 2024 (the same amount as the prior year); and routine departmental and financial reports.
Councilman Wayne Willis moved to approve the consent agenda and Councilman Ricky Sandy seconded; the motion was recorded as unanimously carried.
The Resolution #2024-11 public hearing notice will be published in the News Journal on July 24, 2024, as directed in the consent action.
