The Raeford City Council on Dec. 6 approved the purchase of a new residential sanitation truck and a budget amendment to fund it.
City Manager Dennis Baxley presented a quote from Carolina Environmental Systems for a Heil DuraPack 28-cubic-yard high-compaction, full-eject automated side-loading refuse body to be mounted on a 2022 Mack LR64 cab/chassis for $309,992.88, including tags. The council approved a budget amendment to appropriate $310,000 from unassigned fund balance to cover the purchase. Delivery was estimated at 120–180 days after receipt of the chassis, with anticipated delivery in the second quarter of 2022.
Councilman Charles Allen moved to approve the purchase and the budget amendment; Councilwoman Mary Neil King seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. The ordinance language for the budget amendment was adopted and copies were directed to the city clerk, the budget officer and the finance officer.
