Milan — City officials at the June 18 Milan City Council meeting reported delays in local road projects and steps taken to address intersection safety.
Mayor Ed Kolar said County Street construction is running about a month behind schedule, pushing the anticipated closure into mid‑July. He said Plank Road construction is also about a month behind schedule. No new completion dates beyond “about a month” were provided at the meeting.
Police Chief Don Tillery announced that new stop signs have been installed at the intersections of North & Miller and Marvin & Miller streets and said those areas will be patrolled regularly in the coming weeks. Chief Tillery also thanked resident Laura Russeau for a donation; the minutes do not specify the nature or amount of the donation.
Treasurer Sarah Finch told the council how residents can obtain the city’s water quality report — hard copies are available on request — and outlined payment options for irregular utility billing. Community Engagement Director Jill Tewsley reminded attendees that the city’s "3rd Thursday" events begin this week and that City Hall will be closed tomorrow in observance of the Juneteenth holiday.
What’s next: Residents affected by County Street or Plank Road construction should watch city communications for updated timelines; patrols at the newly signed intersections will be increased in the near term.
