The Milan City Council on Sept. 17 approved multiple items intended to support local services and infrastructure improvements, including an agreement with Moving Milan Forward to install seven swings on city property, an amendment to the lease for the Milan Children’s Nursery, and a TMF grant award of $104,518 to ML Cartier Incorporated for a service line identification project.
Mayor Ed Kolar presided over the meeting at 147 Wabash St. The motion to approve the swings agreement was made by Councilmember Kerkes and seconded by Mayor Pro‑Tem Wayne; the roll‑call vote was recorded as four yeas, two abstentions and one absent, and the motion carried. Councilmembers voted unanimously to approve the first amendment to the lease with the Milan Children’s Nursery after a motion by Mayor Pro‑Tem Wayne and a second by Councilmember Stafford. The council also unanimously approved awarding the TMF grant project to ML Cartier Incorporated in the amount of $104,518 on a motion by Councilmember Snyder and a second by Councilmember Kofflin.
Council actions also included approval of the consent agenda and the meeting minutes from Sept. 3; motions to approve the agenda, consent items and minutes were carried unanimously. The council approved bills payable and payroll totaling $365,175.57 by a unanimous vote.
The swings installation agreement will allow Moving Milan Forward to place seven swings on city property; the lease amendment updates terms with the Milan Children’s Nursery (also referred to in meeting materials as Milan Children’s Preschool). The TMF grant award to ML Cartier is designated for a service line identification project with a contract amount of $104,518 as recorded in the meeting motion.
No ordinances or long‑term budget adoptions were passed during this meeting. The meeting adjourned at 7:24 p.m.
