Tecumseh council approves Lincoln Street sidewalk, summer mowing wage and event street closure

The Tecumseh City Council on April 7 approved several routine municipal measures, including a sidewalk contract for Lincoln Street between 6th and 9th streets, a seasonal wage for summer mowing staff, and a street closure requested by JCC Schools for home track meets.
The council awarded the Lincoln Street sidewalk contract to S&D Concrete Construction LLC for $20,330.00 after considering competing bids. Council Member Lance Beethe made the motion to accept the S&D bid; Lorie Topp seconded. The motion carried with votes in favor from Beethe, Brian Britt, Alicia Brommer, Tyler Speckmann and Lorie Topp; Travis Goracke was absent.
On personnel matters, the council set the wage for the summer mowing hire (applicant named in agenda as Kaden Badertscher) at $17.00 per hour. Tyler Speckmann moved to set the wage and Brian Britt seconded; the motion passed with the same recorded affirmative votes.
The council also approved a request from JCC Schools to close Lincoln Street from 6th to 9th streets during home track meets. Lance Beethe moved to approve the closure and Alicia Brommer seconded; the motion carried with unanimous recorded support from members present.
Council members approved a $6,475.00 quote from Kudu Lawn & Landscape to make improvements at Custer Ide Field on a motion by Alicia Brommer, seconded by Lorie Topp. The council then approved the consent agenda, which included minutes of the March 17, 2025 meeting and payment of city fund bills, on a motion by Lorie Topp and second by Lance Beethe.
City Clerk Janelle Moran announced the city-wide clean-up weekend is scheduled for May 2–3, 2025. Several departmental updates were provided during the regular agenda: Doug Goracke delivered Streets, Economic Development and Utility Department reports (including updates on a Grid Grant, storm-related outages and a water-quality study), and Maddie Moran delivered the Parks report regarding pool hiring and maintenance schedules.
