Tecumseh awarded $1.32 million grid resiliency grant to fund substation upgrades

The grant was presented as part of the utility department’s regular report. Goracke also reported several recent operational issues and projects: storm damage had caused multiple outages; a 10-inch water main north of town had broken and crews were excavating near the plant to install a cooling-project tap; and about a week of work remained on the JCH transfer. He said the wellhead protection draft was ready for Council consideration and that Engine No. 2 was back in service. Goracke added that an air permit had been completed and permits for new generation units were nearing approval.
Council members did not debate the grant award during the meeting and no vote on the grant itself is recorded in the minutes. The council received the update as part of the written and oral department reports. Next procedural steps referenced in the report included consideration of the wellhead protection draft and continuing permitting work for generation equipment.
