County hears wildfire-hazard map update, names commissioner to speak at AOC; Public Works lays out transportation priorities

Eric Walker, Director of Hood River County Community Development, presented an update on State Senate Bill 762 and the statewide wildfire-hazard map during the work session and referenced packet materials for full details. The topic of which commissioner would speak at the Aug. 26 Association of Oregon Counties meeting was discussed and the board designated a commissioner to represent the county at that AOC session.
Cori Weissner, Hood River County Public Works Director, presented the county’s public-works priorities and requested participation in the Joint Committee on Transportation meeting on Sept. 13 in The Dalles. Cori and County Administrator Allison Williams planned to attend, with Commissioner Babitz joining as available.
No final legislative action occurred at the meeting on the wildfire map; staff were directed to proceed with planned engagement at the AOC and Joint Committee venues and to coordinate next steps with county leadership.
