Hood River County commissioners approve consent agenda, appoint trail-committee reps and continue land-use appeal

The Hood River County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved a sizable consent agenda on Aug. 19 that included surplus-vehicle declarations, intergovernmental agreements, a FEMA public-assistance grant authorization, timber-sale awards, and administrative-code amendments. Commissioner Babitz moved to approve the consent agenda and Commissioner Weathers seconded; the vote was recorded as Commissioner Leticia Moretti — yes; Commissioner Babitz — yes; Commissioner Weathers — yes; Chair Euwer — yes.
The board also moved on volunteer appointments for the Forestry Recreation Trail Committee. Following interviews, Commissioner Babitz moved to appoint Nathan Stanton as the 4x4 representative and Duane Schneeberg as the ATV representative; Commissioner Leticia Moretti seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
During the public-hearing portion of the meeting, Chair Euwer opened an appeal filed by Andreas von Flotow (Appeal #24-0054) and called for a motion to continue the matter. A motion to continue the appeal to the Sept. 16, 2024 Board meeting was made and carried with a unanimous recorded vote.
The meeting record shows the board completed the listed actions and moved to other agenda items, with no further formal votes recorded on those topics before an executive session later in the evening. The board adjourned at 8:20 p.m.
