Commission to consider removing RV parks as permitted uses in commercial zones

The Enoch City Planning Commission on March 10 voted to set a public hearing for March 24 to consider amending Enoch City Code 12.1900.1902 to remove travel trailer and RV parks as permitted uses in community-commercial, regional commercial and research/industrial park zones.

City Manager Ryan Robinson said staff found that those uses were already listed as permitted in multiple commercial zones, creating a duplication with the city's dedicated RV park zoning. Robinson said the amendment would not prohibit RV parks in Enoch but would require applicants to rezone to the RV park zone, allowing public hearings and neighbor notification as part of the rezoning process.

Commissioner Bryce Poulson asked whether the change related to residential temporary placement rules; Robinson clarified that residential rules (temporary backyard placement under 180 days) are separate from the commercial permitting issue. Robinson also noted an applicant had submitted materials for a site across the street from the meeting location, and that because the use is currently permitted in commercial zones the city’s options for that pending application are constrained unless the zoning is changed for future applications.

Commissioner David Hoopes moved to set the public hearing for the code amendment; Commissioner Delaine Finlay seconded and the motion passed unanimously. Staff will prepare the amendment language and public-notice materials for the March 24 hearing.
