Hood River County commissioners voted unanimously Sept. 16 to recommend that county planning staff pursue PICM option 1 from the set of FEMA Pre-Implementation Compliance Measures presented by Community Development Director Eric Walker.
Walker presented three PICM options during the work session and asked the Board to indicate which option staff should pursue to meet FEMA requirements. Commissioner Babitz moved to recommend PICM option 1; Commissioner Weathers seconded and the motion passed 5-0. The recommendation directs Planning staff to implement steps associated with option 1; it does not itself adopt ordinance language or final regulatory changes.
The presentation and packet materials contain the substantive differences among the PICM options and any regulatory implications. The Board’s action at this meeting is a policy direction to staff rather than a formal adoption; Planning staff will report back with any follow-up steps or requests for formal adoption as needed.
