Hood River County board approves consent agenda, timber sale closure, park donation and union contracts

The Hood River County Board of Commissioners approved a package of routine and substantive items at its Nov. 18 meeting, including multiple intergovernmental agreements, grant applications, a timber sale closure, a park donation resolution and three union contracts.
On the consent agenda the Board authorized an intergovernmental agreement with the City of Hood River to use Construction Excise Tax dollars for the Rand Road project (now called Mariposa Village), approved closure of Ozzy Timber Sale #24‑3 and authorized application to the Oregon Department of Energy for an Energy Resilience Planning Grant. The Board also confirmed prior approvals for ODOT transportation safety grant awards, a special event liquor license for Pear Bloom, and a letter of support for BEAD funding by Blue Mountain Network.
Commissioner Babitz requested a correction to a prior report on the Hood River‑White Salmon Bridge cost estimate, asking that a 2021 figure be corrected from $525 million to $520 million; he noted that the Bridge Investment Program application later increased the total cost estimate to $1.12 billion.
In old business the Board approved a resolution to accept a donation from the Friends of Oak Grove Park; Commissioner Babitz moved and Commissioner Weathers seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. Later, the Board approved collective bargaining agreements with AFSCME locals (1082, 1082‑DDA and 2503) after a summary of negotiations by Human Resources Director Cheryl Berger; Commissioner Moretti moved, Commissioner Babitz seconded and the motions carried unanimously.
