At its Sept. 16 meeting the Hood River County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved the consent agenda (as amended), approved the Hood River/Wasco LEAD program, recommended FEMA PICM option 1, advanced the Parkdale Community Plan Ordinance to a public hearing and authorized a Prevention Department program manager position.
The Hood River County Board of Commissioners took several unanimous votes Sept. 16 during its business meeting:
- Consent agenda: The Board approved a multi-item consent agenda including grant applications, IGAs, a budget adjustment for forestry timber projects, confirmation of letters of support, and appointment confirmations. Commissioner Babitz asked that Consent item 7E (armored vehicle purchase) be discussed separately; after that discussion the consent agenda passed unanimously.
- Hood River/Wasco LEAD Program (Agenda item 8A): The Board approved creating the deflection program, associated positions, and a budget adjustment to accept a $304,150 award from the Oregon Criminal Justice Commission. Motion by Commissioner Moretti; second by Commissioner Muenzer. Vote: 5-0.
- FEMA PICM recommendation (Agenda item 8B): The Board recommended PICM option 1 for Planning staff to pursue to meet FEMA requirements. Motion by Commissioner Babitz; second by Commissioner Weathers. Vote: 5-0.
- Parkdale Community Plan Ordinance (Agenda item 10A): The Board conducted a first reading and approved scheduling a public hearing for Oct. 21, 2024. Motion by Commissioner Babitz; second by Commissioner Weathers. Vote: 5-0.
- Prevention Department staffing (Agenda item 10C): The Board authorized creation of a Program Manager position following the retirement of Prevention Director Belinda Ballah and with Rachael Fuller serving temporarily as interim director. Motion by Commissioner Moretti; second by Commissioner Babitz. Vote: 5-0.
