Board adopts Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan, approves consent agenda and other business

The Board unanimously adopted the county’s Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan, approved the consent agenda (including multiple grants and budget adjustments), accepted a HRWSBA resignation and scheduled follow-up interviews, and deferred a decision on the USDA Wildlife contract until the April budget presentation.
On March 17 the Hood River County Board unanimously adopted the county’s Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan after a motion by Commissioner Muenzer and a second by Commissioner Moretti.
The Board also approved the consent agenda (including a letter of support for the Columbia Gorge Resolution Center, the Windsong Terrace plat, liquor license approvals, multiple grant application authorizations, and budget adjustments for Health, Forestry and Emergency Management). Commissioner Babitz moved to accept the consent agenda and Commissioner Muenzer seconded; the vote was unanimous.
The Board accepted the resignation of Mike Fox from the Hood River–White Salmon Bridge Authority and agreed to follow Resolution 2529’s appointment process; interviews to fill the vacancy will be held at the May 19 Board meeting.
Staff reported on the USDA Wildlife Services contract and provided an FY25/26 budget request; given current budget constraints commissioners agreed to delay a decision until the April 24 budget presentation. The Board also authorized staff to submit a letter of support for HB 3175 (removing the cap on the land corner fund) following County Surveyor Bradley Cross’s presentation.
Commissioner Weathers moved and Commissioner Moretti seconded adoption of the Minoru Yasui proclamation authorizing the Board to sign the document; the motion passed unanimously.
The meeting concluded with an executive session on a real property transaction under ORS 192.660(2)(e) and adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
