Barnesville council adopts 2018–19 budget and sets millage at 3.977 mills

At a special called meeting on Sept. 6, the Barnesville City Council set the 2018 Ad Valorem tax rate at 3.977 mills and adopted the 2018/2019 operating budget. City Manager David K. Rose read Ordinance No. 562 during council proceedings and the council voted unanimously to adopt the ordinance and the budget.
City Manager Rose stated, during a public hearing on Sept. 4, that the total proposed 2018/2019 budget was $15,540,255 and that the budget change from the previous year was less than one percent. The council also adopted Ordinance No. 563 setting the 2018 schedule of fees and Ordinance No. 564 amending the City’s master retirement plan as part of the same series of actions.
Council minutes show the votes adopting the tax rate and budget were unanimous with ordinances recorded for public record.
