Commission approves public-health grant amendment, sheriff contract updates and a set of consent agreements
Summary
At its Jan. 6 meeting the commission approved Amendment 5 to a public health infrastructure contract (receivable $80,951), an amendment to the sheriff's contract with the Utah Department of Corrections (no financial attachment), and a set of consent agreements including in‑home care and recycling services. The board also recessed to the Board of Equalization to approve the property tax register.
The Davis County Commission approved several administrative items and amendments during the Jan. 6 meeting, including a public-health grant amendment, updates to the sheriff's inmate‑housing contract and multiple consent agreements.
Brian Hatch presented Amendment 5 to contract 2023-0174 for public health infrastructure funding, describing the funds as supporting performance management, quality and continuous improvement. He said the receivable amount is $80,951 for the contract period 12/01/2025–11/30/2026; the commission approved the amendment unanimously.
Arnold Butcher presented Amendment 1 to the Sheriff's contract with the Utah State Department of Corrections; he said the amendment contains only verbiage updates and references to law changes and carries no financial attachment. The amendment's effective range follows the original contract period (07/01/2024–06/30/2029). The commission approved the amendment unanimously.
Consent agenda items approved by the commission included an agreement with Care Forward Home Care Utah LLC for in‑home services for elderly and disabled adults (item 14); an ACE Recycling agreement for an additional recycling dumpster at Western Sports Park (annual cost $2,273.04, item 15); approval of ScrapeFest car-show arrangements (item 16); and a sponsorship between the Davis Shooting Range and Animal Squared Inc. (item 17). The board recessed to the Board of Equalization, heard the property tax register presented by Scott Park (which included 11 appeals, 14 abatements and three auditor corrections plus three assessor corrections), approved it, then reconvened the commission.
One item (Animal Care item 7) was tabled for one week at the request of staff, and the meeting concluded after closing remarks and an adjournment.
