Raeford Police sergeant honored as department’s first traffic crash reconstructionist

Police Chief Marc Godwin told the council that Sgt. Michael Norton completed six weeks of specialized training and is now Raeford Police Department’s first Traffic Crash Reconstructionist.
Chief Godwin said the certification enables Sgt. Norton to reconstruct motor vehicle crashes involving other vehicles, pedestrians, bicycles, motorcycles and animals and to determine circumstances for testimony in court. Mayor John K. McNeill III and members of the council congratulated Sgt. Norton and presented him an achievement award.
The recognition is ceremonial; no council action or funding decision was associated with the presentation.
