Police Chief Marc Godwin told the council the department was awarded the grant and asked the council to accept it by approving the budget amendment. The ordinance amendment increases Grant Expenditures and records $24,492 in restricted grant revenue, shifting $5,653 from unassigned fund balance so total changes to the General Fund equal $30,145.
Councilman John Jordan moved to approve Budget Ordinance Amendment #5; Councilman Wayne Willis seconded the motion, which the council carried unanimously. The adopted amendment directs copies be provided to the city clerk, the budget officer and the finance officer for implementation.
The grant will be used for Raeford Police Department expenditures identified by the department; the ordinance text records the accounting entries but does not specify the line-item purchases. The council did not discuss specific purchases during the meeting.
The council also approved routine items on the consent agenda during the same meeting, including minutes, a surplus-property sale and a tax-release request.
