Council approves rezoning at 436 N. Vass Road to allow manufactured home

Following a public hearing on Oct. 3, 2022 the Raeford City Council unanimously approved rezoning a 0.41-acre parcel at 436 N. Vass Road (PIN 694351301064) from R-6 (Residential 6,000) to RMH (Residential Manufactured Home) to accommodate a new manufactured home.
The hearing was opened on a motion by Councilman John Jordan, seconded by Councilwoman Mary Neil King. Code Administrator Felecia Locklear told the council the property contains an existing dilapidated residential structure that would be removed and replaced by a manufactured home. She said the Planning Board reviewed the request on Sept. 26, 2022 and recommended approval. After closing the hearing (motion by Councilman Charles Allen, seconded by Councilwoman King), Councilman Jordan moved to approve the rezoning; Councilman Allen seconded and the motion was carried unanimously.
No public opposition was recorded at the hearing in the meeting minutes. The rezoning changes the parcel's zoning designation to RMH to explicitly allow placement of a manufactured home; any permits and site requirements will follow the city's zoning and building permit processes.
