Raeford council receives 'clean audit' for FY2022, thanks finance staff

The Raeford City Council on Oct. 3, 2022 received a finalized fiscal year 2022 audit that the auditor described as a "clean audit." Lee Grissom of S. Preston Douglas & Associates LLP told the council the audit had been submitted to the North Carolina Local Government Commission and that the City complied, in all material respects, with Government Auditing Standards and state statutes.
The audit presentation gave the council and the public assurance that the city's financial reporting met required standards. "The audit has been finalized and submitted to Local Government Commission," Grissom said, and he "thanked the Finance Officer and staff for their assistance during the process." Mayor John K. McNeill and council members publicly thanked staff for their work on the audit.
The council did not take separate formal action on the audit beyond accepting the report at the meeting. Financial and departmental reports were included later on the consent agenda for routine approval.
