The group will work with the Southeast Nebraska Development District (SENDD) to prepare and submit the application. Lisa Walker, director of the Nebraska City Area Economic Development Corporation, volunteered assistance from her office.
Board discussion noted that the existing moratorium on new connections in Rural Water #1 and #2 is constraining population growth and economic development in parts of Otoe County. The subcommittee is intended to collect technical and financial information needed for a successful appropriation request and to coordinate required paperwork with SENDD.
The action was taken during regular business; the board did not set a public deadline for the grant submission during the meeting. The board adjourned at 8:57 a.m.; its next regular meeting is April 7, 2026.
