Glenwood Elementary and CTE students present improvement goals and career-technical successes

Glenwood Elementary and the district's Career & Technical Education (CTE) program were center stage at the Lake Stevens School Board's Feb. 26 meeting, as school and student representatives presented improvement goals and program outcomes.
Glenwood Principal Jen Johnson told the board the school is focusing additional resources on learners with disabilities and set a goal to increase their ELA proficiency from 24.6% in 2024 to 40% on the 2025 SBA, compared with 77.2% among general-education peers. Johnson also said Glenwood aims to raise Panorama Survey favorable ratings for belonging (66% in spring 2024) and self-efficacy (61%) by at least five percentage points in spring 2025. "Glenwood is incredibly proud of Devin one amazing Gatorific Gator!" Johnson said, describing a student in the REACH program who has made notable progress through coordinated supports.
CTE Director Dan Tedor described CTE's hands-on approach and outcomes, noting 30 certified and 9 classified staff serve roughly 4,900 students districtwide. According to Tedor, 99.6% of CTE students earned college credit through dual-credit offerings and 81.4% attained industry-recognized credentials. DECA students and the CTE Microsoft Office National Team shared their conference and competition experiences, emphasizing skills-building and postsecondary pathways.
Superintendent Dr. Mary Templeton praised the student presentations and highlighted the role of the recently passed construction bond in supporting district growth. Board members thanked students and staff for their presentations and for hosting the meeting at Glenwood.
