Board approves personnel actions and payments, acknowledges director turnover

The Nooksack Valley School Board on Nov. 20, 2025, approved a set of routine personnel actions and authorized payment of vouchers and payroll.
Personnel actions approved (motions and recorded votes follow the board minutes): minutes of the Oct. 16, 2025 meeting were approved (motion: Steve Jones; second: Tanya Silves; 5-0). The board approved the hire of Makenna Holz as Occupational Therapist (motion: Halli Kimball; second: Shelley Harder; 5-0). Temporary hires approved included Jenna Compton (Special Education Teacher, Nooksack Valley Middle School; one year only) and Taryn Potter (Paraeducator II, Sumas Elementary School, 10/23/25'01/02/26) (motion: Tanya Silves; second: Halli Kimball; 5-0).
The board approved temporary leaves for Lindsey Lang (7th grade teacher, NVMS, 01/21/26'06/12/26), Samantha Vanberkum (4th grade, Nooksack Elementary, 04/13/26'06/12/26), Angela Prosser (Psychologist, 03/14/26'06/12/26), Morgan Perry (Special Education teacher, 01/12/26'06/12/26) and Samuel McMain (Art teacher, 01/12/26'04/03/26). Shelley Harder moved the board accepted resignations from Thomas Jackson (6th grade ELA/Social Studies teacher, effective 12/19/25) and Jenna Compton (Paraeducator III, effective 11/24/25); the motion carried 5-0.
Financial approvals: the board approved vouchers and payroll as presented (motion: Halli Kimball; second: Steve Jones; unanimous). The minutes list multiple General Fund check ranges and totals (141762'141766: $730.63; 141767'141784: $551,877.62; 141785'141853: $163,356.28; 141875'141930: $163,268.75), ASB Fund checks 141854'141871 totaling $71,518.03, and Capital Project Fund checks 141872'141874 totaling $17,880.42.
Chair Ty Elmendorf acknowledged Britt Lentz in the audience and congratulated him on his election victory, and noted this meeting was Director Steve Jones's last official regular board meeting. The meeting adjourned at 8:04 p.m.
