Lake Stevens School District honors volunteers at April 30 Volunteer Celebration

The Lake Stevens School District Board of Directors held a Special Meeting and Volunteer Celebration on April 30, 2025, to honor community volunteers and recognize a Volunteer of the Year from each school.
Superintendent Dr. Mary Templeton opened the event by thanking volunteers for their time and commitment, saying, “Your volunteerism is critical to the success of our district.” She presented the Distinguished Service Award to Kristina Schweizer, Will Brandt and Michelle Vonderau and invited recipients and school honorees forward for photos.
Volunteers of the Year named by the district were: Anne Julson (Lake Stevens High School); Gwen Sarault (Cavelero Mid High School); Joelle Martin (Lake Stevens Middle School); Rachel Day (North Lake Middle School); Jayme Glover (Glenwood Elementary); Kelly Estes (Hillcrest Elementary); Karen Nystrom (Highland Elementary); Trish Davidson (Mt. Pilchuck Elementary); Ernie Brown (Skyline Elementary); Jennifer Patterson (Stevens Creek Elementary); Sayeh Azarpay (Sunnycrest Elementary); Sara Ramsey (HomeLink); Lupita Chavez-Guillen and Linlee Young (Early Learning Center).
Dr. Templeton thanked district staff and the Communications & Community Services Department, noting Kendra Hall’s role in organizing the evening. Attendees were invited to a reception with hors d’oeuvres prepared by district nutrition services staff.
The special session adjourned at 5:45 p.m.; the board later convened its regular meeting at 6:30 p.m.
