Superintendent highlights 58 students earning 192 world-language credits and 36 Seals of Biliteracy

Superintendent Mary Templeton used her May 28 update to highlight the districts World Language Competency Testing results and recent arts events.
Templeton praised recent school concerts and singled out Lake Stevens High School Jazz Night for bringing secondary jazz orchestras together. She then presented testing figures: 58 students participated in World Language Competency Testing; the district awarded 81 credits at CMHS and 111 credits at Lake Stevens High School (192 total). In addition, 13 CMHS students and 23 LSHS students earned the Washington State Seal of Biliteracy, for a total of 36 seals; testing represented 17 unique languages.
"These accomplishments reflect the incredible talent and cultural richness of our students," Templeton said, noting the program allows students to earn high school credit for language proficiency and, when paired with SBA ELA scores of 3 or 4, a Seal of Biliteracy on their transcript.
