Nooksack Valley board approves hires, leaves, resignation, retirement and payroll vouchers

The Nooksack Valley School Board on Nov. 21 approved several personnel actions and authorized payroll and vouchers as part of the regular meeting.
The board approved one-year temporary hires for Christina Whitney (Paraeducator II, Nooksack Valley High School), Hannah Wadsworth (Paraeducator III, Everson Elementary) and Julia Owens (Registered Nurse). The board accepted the resignation of Sheila Clark, Special Education Teacher at Nooksack Elementary, effective Nov. 27, 2024, and accepted the retirement of Robin Hobbs, Paraeducator I at Everson Elementary, effective Feb. 21, 2025.
Temporary leaves were approved for Frances Moncada (Spanish teacher, NVHS) Jan. 13–June 13, 2025; Chris Feild (3rd grade, Everson Elementary) Jan. 6–Mar. 31, 2025; and Hannah Buys (1st grade, Nooksack Elementary) Jan. 6–June 13, 2025. Each personnel motion is recorded in the minutes as carried 5-0.
On finance, the board approved payroll and vouchers. The minutes list General Fund check ranges and totals (examples): General Fund checks 139510–139513 ($1,635.40), 139514–139531 ($479,495.02), 139532–139623 ($221,010.83), and additional ASB and Capital Projects fund checks. The board approved payment of the presented payroll and vouchers by unanimous recorded vote.
The minutes show a subsequent executive session on personnel where no action was taken; a district work session is scheduled Dec. 9 to continue board business.
