Milan City Council approves consent agenda, event permits and $304,343.47 in bills

Councilmember Wayne moved to approve the agenda; Councilmember Stafford seconded and the motion carried without dissent. Councilmember Snyder moved to approve the Feb. 20 minutes; Councilmember Kerkes seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
The consent agenda approved requests to raise a Pride flag on June 1 at the request of ARC Milan; a 30-minute road closure for the Milan Pride Parade and Rally at Tolan Square on June 8; a Knights of Columbus Tootsie Roll fundraising drive March 22–23; a Milan Youth League parade on May 4; and the Hot Rods Motorcycle Suicide Prevention annual car show on Sept. 7.
On financial business, the council approved payment of bills and payroll totaling $304,343.47 after a motion by Councilmember Stafford and a second from Councilmember Kerkes. The motion carried unanimously.
During the public-comment portion, resident Stacey Burnette and representatives Carrie Ritchie (Milan Youth League) and George Bennett (Hotrod’s Motorcycle & Suicide Prevention Foundation) addressed the council.
The council set its next regular meeting for Tuesday, March 19, 2024, with an agenda deadline of March 13. Councilmember Thompson moved to adjourn at 7:56 p.m.; Councilmember Wayne seconded and the adjournment passed unanimously.
