The resolution, introduced by Commissioner Denny, said Caseworks would create interoperable solutions to streamline business processes, automate document management across program areas, increase caseload capacity, reduce costs, and minimize errors. It also stated the system will centralize digital storage and strengthen data protection to reduce risks from lost or mislabeled files.
As part of the action, the board approved a subscription and services agreement with Next Chapter Technology to implement Caseworks, with implementation costs to be expended over a one-year period. The board adopted the supporting resolution and the contract as presented.
County materials say the move is intended to allow faster identification of high-need households and more proactive intervention by staff; the motion and contract approval do not commit a specific funding source beyond the pursuit of Sourcewell community-impact funding and the approved contract terms.
