The Oneida County Land Records Committee voted March 10 to approve and forward a 2026 State Fiscal Year NG9-1-1 GIS Grant application to the county signing official. Sara Chiamulera of the Land Information Office said she submitted a fast-tracked grant application that bundles four projects: an upgrade of GIS servers in coordination with Information Technology, a 2027 aerial-photography flight at three-inch resolution, acquisition of updated building outlines from that flight, and an upgrade to the county's ESRI software that supports GIS mapping and NextGen 911 emergency response.
Chiamulera told the committee the county would provide a 5% match for each project. Greg Oettinger moved and Kyle Timmons seconded a motion to approve the application and forward it to Scott Holewinski for signature; the motion carried with all members present voting yes.
If funded, the upgrades are expected to improve the county's mapping accuracy and its NextGen 911 data used by emergency responders. The committee did not set a schedule for implementation beyond noting the aerial flight is planned for 2027; further project timelines will depend on grant award and procurement.
