Deuel County Commissioners on March 17 approved a series of routine personnel, administrative and financial items during their regular meeting.
The board voted to hire Lucas Ippolito as an equipment operator in the highway shop at $22.06 per hour with benefits eligibility effective March 30, 2026. Commissioners also approved a new county burial process and travel requests for Equalization Office staff to attend USPAP training and other conferences. Five county representatives were authorized to attend the Sioux Valley Commission meeting on April 8 in DeSmet.
The board reviewed and approved the county’s February cash balance sheet, accepted the auditor’s submission of the 2025 annual report for advertisement, and adopted Resolution #26-04 establishing precinct polling locations for the 2026 primary and general elections. Commissioners approved payment of warrants and payroll; the minutes include a detailed line-by-line warrant list and departmental payroll totals.
Discussion items that were tabled or continued included further review of repairs to the 4-H arena and planning follow-up on the fairgrounds quiet-title matter and potential land swap. The meeting adjourned after a public comment period that produced no speakers.
