Pennsauken board approves fire-alarm upgrade contract, bus cameras and cybersecurity grant application

At its March 18 meeting the Pennsauken Township Board of Education advanced several procurement and cybersecurity items included in the business and finance packet.

The board’s agenda recommended awarding a contract to Siemens Industry, Inc. under a Sourcewell cooperative contract for a Delair Elementary School fire alarm voice upgrade not to exceed $105,590, with funds charged to the indicated capital account. The board also recommended purchasing student transportation bus camera systems, covered by a four-year warranty and implementation services from Transportant under a national cooperative contract, not to exceed $34,459.

Separately, the district proposed applying for an NJCCIC Advanced Endpoint Protection grant that would cover CrowdStrike Falcon EDR licenses and managed detection/response services for 1,100 endpoints. The agenda breaks the four-year cost-share schedule showing the State share by year and the district’s local cost obligations over the coverage years; the total state share listed in the agenda materials is $194,370 and the local share totals $57,916.10 across the multi-year schedule.

The motions approving these procurements and the grant application were carried as part of the board’s business and finance approvals.

Why it matters: the procurements address school safety and cybersecurity across the district — fire alarm upgrades, bus camera surveillance and endpoint protection for district devices — and their costs and contract terms will affect capital and operating budgets.

Next steps: the Business Administrator/Board Secretary will execute contracts and process payments per district procurement policies and cooperative purchasing agreements.
